Dancing Popcorn

Today we discovered that we can make popcorn dance.
As we have with with all of our experiments, we asked our two favourite questions:
"What if?"
"Why?"
Today we asked, "What if we put some water in a cup then added some popcorn kernels? Will they dance?"
So we tested our idea.

Although there were bubbles on some of the kernels making them stand upright, they didn't dance.
Next we tried lemonade thinking the bubbles will lift the kernels and make them dance.

The bubbles of the lemonade lifted the kernels up but then they fell down again.
Finally we tried vinegar and baking soda.
This combination lifted the kernels up and down, but they weren't exactly dancing.

We tried again. this time we put the popcorn in first. Added some water, then vinegar and finally the baking soda. The mixture fizzed and almost bubbled over, but most importantly all of the fizzing and bubbling made the kernels dance!

    1. I wish I had of gotten a photo of Darcy's demonstration but I was too slow! Mind you, that was before we even started the experiment :)
