Balloon Fun!

Today Mrs Ballard asked the children, "How do you get a skewer to pass through a balloon without popping it?"

She drew dots on a balloon to show where it will be stretched the most when blown up.

She used a little dish washing liquid to make the skewer slide through the balloon more easily.

First Mrs Ballard slid the skewer through the sides, but the balloon popped.

She tried again, this time sliding the skewer through the bottom (where the balloon wasn't stretched as far) and out through the top (also where the balloon wasn't stretched as far). That time the skewer slid straight through!

Next, it was time for the children to have a try. We had a few balloons pop but we had many successes too!
