Fractions

Today we introduced the topic of "Fractions". We talked about fractions being EQUAL parts. We cut an apple and an orange in half and observed the equal parts, then we wrote the fraction for one half (1/2). We've even discussed why certain shapes (such as a heart) need to be cut in a particular way so that it is divided into equal parts. 
Perhaps you can continue our discussion at home. You'd be amazed at the number of situations something needs to be divided into equal parts.
